Traffic Engineer - Project Management Track

Overview

Our client is a leading civil engineering firm specializing in transportation safety and planning solutions. Join a dedicated Traffic Engineering team focused on improving transportation safety in communities across Alabama. This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow into project management while working on meaningful projects that reduce crashes, prevent fatal accidents, and improve roadway efficiency for travelers throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Assistant Director to manage transportation safety and planning projects
  • Develop and implement solutions to improve roadway safety and efficiency
  • Analyze traffic data and prepare technical reports using Excel and specialized software
  • Apply knowledge of transportation manuals including MUTCD, Highway Safety Manual, and Access Management Manual
  • Utilize traffic engineering software such as MicroStation, ArcGIS, Synchro, and VISTRO
  • Conduct field investigations and site visits as required
  • Progress toward project management responsibilities under senior leadership guidance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • 3+ years of traffic or transportation engineering experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Access Management Manual, MUTCD, Highway Safety Manual, and Trip Generation Manual
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis
  • Experience with MicroStation, ArcGIS, Synchro, and/or VISTRO preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or actively pursuing
